Founded in 1985, STR’s presence has expanded to 16 countries, with a corporate North American headquarters in Hendersonville, Tennessee, an international headquarters in London, England and an Asia Pacific headquarters in Singapore.  

Through our 30-plus years of service to the hospitality industry, we have developed a number of vital benchmarking performance solutions, establishing market trend transparency and attracting investment capital to the sector. By delivering stellar client services and products, we have established a reputation as a trusted adviser in the marketplace. Our culture revolves around integrity, and we live up to this value by making data accuracy and confidentiality our top priority. 

We are constantly striving to enhance our product offerings while working to shape the future of industries. In 2008, we expanded our international arm when HotelBenchmark, a division of Deloitte UK, and The Bench, a daily benchmarking company, combined to form STR Global Limited. Later that year, we launched Hotel News Now (HNN), a digital media platform based in Rocky River, Ohio. 

In 2014, we launched a Sector Analysis division to expand our benchmarking platform to other industries. Later that year, we announced our newest segment, the health club sector, through a strategic partnership with the International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association (IHRSA). In 2015, we continued our vertical expansion by entering the self-storage industry, targeting U.S. operators, developers and service providers to track performance, supply, and new development data.

In 2016, we united our entities under one worldwide brand: STR.  

In the same year, we purchased LJ Research, a full-service tourism market research company based out of Edinburgh, Scotland. They are now the Tourism Consumer Insights team of STR.
Also in 2016, we acquired AM PM.
